Ah, Atlantic City. The opposite of Las Vegas.
Back in July, I went to a fest in Philadelphia. As always, I make a stop in Atlantic City for a few days to kill time before I need to be there. This trip I stayed in Atlantic City Tuesday – Friday. I left Thursday for Philadelphia and came back Thursday night.
I only kept notes from my first night and the final tally, so this will be mostly photos and less text. Although Google wants you to use more words in order to rank higher in Google searches. So maybe I will just ramble a bit about things like…Google searches, to please Google. Because GOOGLE.
I arrived with a reservation for the Dennis Tower at Ballys. I did not want to stay in the Dennis Tower. Hell, I didn’t want to stay at Ballys either. But it was the only hotel coming up with all three nights comped. The guy who checked me in upgraded me to the Ballys Tower. Thank you kind sir for saving me.
I loved the view.
I am very excited to report that Ballys now has a Dunkin Donuts in the lobby! Every time I went, the line was insane. But I am still excited. They take CET comps 1-1, which I was not expecting at all.
I played mostly Double Double Bonus video poker, with some Cleopatra Keno. I also played a 50 Lions slot machine. I experienced every gambler’s dream. I accidentally hit max bet and got a $250 line pay!
I left home with $300. I left Atlantic City with $600. This was after spending money on food (I arrived with no comps, oh no!), the bus back and forth to Philadelphia and lots of BEER in Philadelphia.
Here is some video poker porn for you.
Saving the most beautiful for last!
Funny how I did not want to stay at Ballys because it is my unlucky casino. But on this trip, she loved me.
I also visited Borgata and holy shit this casino hated me so much. I also never once got to play my favorite Cleopatra Keno machines because they were always occupied. This is so very frustrating because normally, I keep playing something I do not want to play while waiting for one to open. Then I do a circle walk and see it is still not open. So again I play something I don’t want to play to kill time. And Cleopatra Keno is still not open. By the time there is a machine available, my Cleopatra Keno budget it depleted. They need more of these machines. Keno has a very high house edge so more machines = idiots like me who know this, lose more = Borgata wins more! COME ON PEOPLE.

Jennifer, I live just north of Philly and I get down to AC 4 or 5 times a year. I always stay at the Tropicanna or the Borgota. I love the Borgota but it doesn’t love me so much. I like the keno and poker machines more at the Borgota, the pay tables are much better. Now if they would only treat me a little better. It’s been 20 years since I’ve been to Bally’s, do they have very many keno machines and how are their pay tables? Glad to see you won there after your tough trip to Las Vegas. I always enjoy your trip reports, continued good luck to you.
Hi Jim!
The Borgata kinda sorta likes me a little bit. They send me free play. They also send me room offers which seem to have zero available dates though.
At Ballys (and Caesars and Harrahs….) I play nine numbers. They short you on the win for seven numbers hit. You get 260. I have seen the seven numbers hit go as high as 400 credits. Borgata has better pay tables but I cannot recall exactly what it pays. I just remember being aware of it when I was there.
Jennifer, The keno machines at Borgota pay like Vegas. I normally play 6 numbers and they pay 3 for 3 hits 4 for 4 hits 76 for 5 hits and 1600 for 6 out of 6 (1 quarter). I know for 6 out of 7 they pay 400. Not sure of the payout for picking 9 numbers. I will check it out when I go down in November. Thanks for the quick reply. Jim
enjoyed this report – never stayed at Bally’s and never really liked Ballys but they are the only casino offering me comped rooms… Borgata is my very favorite but they have hated me far too many times.
Thanks Nancy! I always hated Ballys because I always lose there. Right now, I love it. I will probably hate it again soon though. That’s the way these things go…
Thats the first time I hear you mention beer/alcohol in a looooong time! You dont drink while in Vegas, do you?
Nope, I don’t drink in Vegas. I am a social drinker and I do not drink in Vegas.
Always love an AC report. I only make it there once a year for Thanksgiving w/the family. Stayed a night at Bally’s for the first time last year in a Jubilee room (or whatever they’re called). I actually liked it. Congrats on coming home a winner!
Thanks Bethany! I have a love / hate relationship with Atlantic City. When I love it, you can find me there regularly. When I hate it, it can be years of boycotting. Right now, I love it.
Well you are so correct…. Bally’s sure did love you this trip…..
We used to stay at Bally’s all the time years back and loved it there…. once Harrah’s took it over it changed and we moved on to the Borgata…. Borgata used to be our favorite hotel/casino but now we do not go to AC at all …..
Just been sticking to our casinos here in Pa….
Thanks though for giving us a AC trip report
I still need to get to the casinos in PA. One of these days..
