Hotel Review: Sam’s Town, Las Vegas

I stayed at Sam’s Town in Henderson over New Year’s Eve, 2020.  I had also stayed there a few year ago.  I enjoyed it both times.  It really has everything I need, most importantly, a Dunkin Donuts!  I don’t know if the Dunkin is open 24 hours in normal times.  It wasn’t during this stay, but this stay was during Covid where all bets were off.  Except the bets I made while gambling.  Degenerately.  Because degenerate.

I do wish Sam’s Town had a coffee shop other than TGIFriday’s though.

Sam’s Town is owned by Boyd.  I was able to book four comped nights over New Year’s Eve, which mostly came from my Downtown play.  I usually only hit and run here, once a year at most.  Sometimes I will even skip a year.

I took an Uber here from The D and it cost me $20.86.  My driver had never heard of Sam’s Town, which I thought was very odd.

I had booked a Park View room, but was given Strip view instead.  Strip view is considered a downgrade here.  I’d much rather overlook the pretty Park.  It looks like a quaint town in Europe.  I love the smell of chlorine and this atrium is my heaven.

The light show was not running due to Covid, but the Christmas bears scattered all around still made it lovely.

My favorite features in the room were the library wall paper in the closet, and the camouflage curtains.  Camo is my favorite color.

I also love that the windowsill is a bench.

There were no fireworks on the Strip this year because of Covid.  Had there been, I would have been able to see them from my window bench.

There were fireworks atop the Plaza hotel downtown.   They were loud, I heard them.  They woke me up actually.

If you like to spend time off Strip, or if you want to visit the Henderson casinos, Sam’s Town is a great place to stay.   The BHX stops outside, as does the 202 to the Strip.

They also normally have a free shuttle to the Strip and to Downtown, but it is currently not running because of Covid.   Not sure if it will come back as they had greatly reduced the frequency it ran before Covid.

Here is the same review in video format.  It features  my annoying voice and has less words because annoying voice.

enjoyed this review — and the video with you talking – you didn’t sound like I imagined and I didn’t hear any New York accent 🙂
