Ah yes, Wynn. I am now more seasoned than I was during my first trips. Back then, everything was new, so I didn’t really have an idea of what was actually new. There was construction everywhere. Look at this photo from Bellagio back in 2005. There’s Wynn going up!
Desert Inn sat on the current site of Wynn. I don’t recall ever going inside. I know I must have passed it on my Strip walk on my first trip, but that walk is very hazy.
Desert Inn from my room at Stardust:
Here are the earliest photo of I have of Wynn going up, from June of 2003. All my older photos of Wynn are saved as “Le Reve” as that was supposed to be the hotel name.
Fast forward 5 months:
I am not the only one without any memory of that Mini Mart where Palazzo now is, right?
March of 2004, almost done!
Two months later in May of 2004:
Then we will all appreciate that the next time I was in Las Vegas after taking the above photo, Wynn was open! And this is the only photo I have.
There she is, in 2006:
When Wynn first opened, they were handing out blank Red Cards. You were told you had to accumulate a certain amount of points before you could come back and get entered into the system. For clarity, these were literally blank cards. No ID required. If you did not hit a certain amount of points, you did not get to show your ID and get entered into their system.
I first stayed here in 2006. Here is what the rooms looked like way back when. How completely outdated is that couch!
And the room view showing Palazzo being built:
And Frontier! With baby Trump in the background:
I was in Las Vegas for the opening of Encore. You can read about that HERE.
My next stay was many years later, at Encore. I was very excited to stay here, and ended up having miserable luck and hating it.
I know I had another stay somewhere, but I can’t remember. The next one I do remember is my birthday in 2021.
California fires like whoa!
Wynn has redone their rooms again and I had one last month on my birthday. I hate the new bathroom shelves.
I like seeing the progression of hotel rooms, but it hurts my soul to see the crappy quality of my older photos.
