Las Vegas Trip Report: Moving From Barbary Coast (RIP) to Frontier (also RIP)

This is an old Las Vegas trip report that I am posting for the entertainment of Las Vegas addicts. While it was current at the time it was written, a lot of it is now completely outdated.  Much of what you read about may no longer exist.

Wednesday, March 27, 2003 – Day Seven of Nine

Today for breakfast, we go back to the Aladdin and finally get to use my slot tournament credit to eat at their buffet. It was great as always. I took a couple of pictures of Paris as we passed by.Paris, Las Vegas Paris fountain, Las Vegas After breakfast, I started offering the slot machines my money; they kept happily taking my money. This goes on for quite some time.

Finally, we go back to the Barbary Coast to check out, as once again, it is moving day.

We had to wait about 35 minutes for a cab and then finally we were on our way over to the Frontier. Frontier, Las Vegas Here we wait 55 minutes to check in. There were only about ten people in front of us, but the check in line does not move there. Finally we get our keys and head off to our room. Longest walk EVER. We got room 2049.

We had a view of the Fashion Show Mall construction. What the heck is that thing they are building? It looks like a space ship. Frontier Las Vegas room view of Fashion Show Mall construction The Frontier has two windows that open about 4″ each and a refrigerator. I’m very happy.

We go downstairs and take a cab back to the Barbary Coast for the 3:00 Big Elvis show. Well Big Elvis didn’t play for some unknown reason so that was wasted cab fare. I took advantage of some of my free drink coupons though so I had a grand time.

I played Beverly Hillbillies and turned a $5 into $15. Now I’m really winning!

We take a cab back to the Frontier and you guessed it, played slots. I got $100 from a “My Rich Uncle.”

We then take our fourth cab ride of the day to Palace Station to use a 2-for-1 buffet coupon.  After dinner, I won $50 on a Lobstermania. I am happy.

We head back to The Frontier. My mother is exhausted. I tell her to go upstairs and watch Friends. It is only about 7:45, but I figure television and resting will make her all better. I join her in about an hour and had what was my earliest night EVER in Vegas. Shame on me!
