Las Vegas Trip Report: Monday, December 2, 2013 – Day Seven of Eight – Part One

Monday, December 2, 2013

[This is part eight of a ten part trip report.  To start at the beginning, go here.]

Today is my last full day.  WAH.

I wake up at the Riviera at 8:00.  One of the things I do not like about staying here is that the food options are awful.  The coffee shop is gone.  The buffet is gone (I think anyway, it was inedible so even if it does still exist, it is not an option)  You can have breakfast in their pub, but I don’t want to do that.  I want a very large iced coffee.  The only place you can get one around here is at the McDonalds across the street.  So that is where I go.

Las Vegas Trip Report: The One With Vomitor and Public Urinator

Sunday, December 1, 2013 – Day Six of Eight

[This is part seven of a ten part trip report.  To start at the beginning, go here.]

This morning I woke up with my alarm at 9:00.  Figures that I am finally actually sleeping on a day I have to be up to check out.

Today is Free Play Day  I will be using all the free play I have saved up and I will win a bazillion dollars with it.

Las Vegas Trip Report: Hitting Aces Twice in One Day!

Saturday, November 30, 2013 – Day Five of Eight

[This is part six of a ten part trip report.  To start at the beginning, go here.]

This morning I am up at Fitzgeralds 5:30 am.  I don’t mean to be but my brain knows there are slot machines below me.

I don’t go out until 8:00.  I head to Fremont to use the free brunch buffet comp I have from using the American Casino Guide coupon.   It would normally be $20.04 if paying with cash.

This is the one breakfast I have ever had in Vegas where the coffee shows up at a drinkable temperature, rather than too hot.  I drank a LOT of coffee.  Then when I left, I obviously went to the Dunkin Donuts inside Fremont and got a large iced coffee.

Las Vegas Trip Report: I Did Nothing On My Itinerary Today

Friday, November 29, 2013 – Day Four of Eight

[This is part five of a ten part trip report.  To start at the beginning, go here.]

I slept so terribly last night.   I kept having really bad dreams.  I finally gave up and got out of bed at 6:37 am, and was out the door at 7:30.

First stop: The D Grill, located inside Fitzgeralds.  Yes, I am still refusing the name change.  I had a $5 coupon from checking in and used my comps to cover the rest.  I still have a $25 dining voucher here but it’s a one time use thing that is too much for breakfast so I am holding onto it for dinner one night.

Las Vegas Trip Report: My First Stay at Post-Fitzgeralds, Now Known as The D

Thursday, November 28, 2013 – Day Three of Eight, Part Two

[This is part four of a ten part trip report.  To start at the beginning, go here.]

This is my first stay at Fitzgeralds since they did a name change.  The new owners would like us to call it “The D”.  Yeah well I would like them to pick a name that is not stupid, and to also bring back the neon rainbow and pot of gold outside.  So it looks like neither of us are getting what we want.  Fitzgeralds it is!

Las Vegas Trip Report: Ever See A Chick Passed Out at a Slot Machine?

Thursday, November 28, 2013 – Day Three of Eight, Part One of Two

[This is part three of a ten part trip report.  To start at the beginning, go here]

This morning I am up at 5:30 am at Aria, ON PURPOSE.  I plan to go to the Bellagio and get some pictures of the conservatory before everyone else is awake.

I leave my room at 7:00 and stop at Starbucks for a Green Tea Frappucino.  I love these things so much.  They are something I don’t allow myself when I am home because indulging as much as I would like to, would cost me the same amount annually as a round trip flight to Asia.  Stuff like that is so crazy.  So if you are reading  this with any Starbucks item near you, and you have ever said to me “I wish I could afford to travel”, please take a moment to stop to add one plus one.  It really does equal two.

Las Vegas Trip Report: I Hate Seth MacFarlane.

Wednesday, November 27, 2013 – Day Two of Eight

[This is part one of a ten part trip report.  To start from the beginning, go here]

I am up at 8:00 am at Aria.  I tried to go back to sleep but it was just not going to happen.  I took my time getting ready and left my room at 10:30. First stop, Starbucks.  The barista tried talking to me and I could not make out any words he was saying.  I finally had to tell him “You and I cannot speak until I have had caffeine.”

Las Vegas Things That Are No More: Lady Luck Hotel and Casino

In honor of the Downtown Grand in Las Vegas opening TODAY,  I thought I would post the trip report from when I had a stay here back in June of 2005, when it was known as Lady Luck.  This hotel/casino was closed back in 2006, for what was supposed to be less than a year, for renovations.  At this time frame, everything in Las Vegas that was closed temporarily or imploded to build new, came to a screeching halt as the economy crashed.  Vegas lovers sat back and collectively cried at how depressed we were to watch our favorite places go away for no good reason.

Now, here we are in 2013 and while the property has been open for close to two weeks, the official grand opening is TODAY.  I cannot wait to see it in just two weeks.

But for now, let’s take a trip back in time, shall we?

Las Vegas Trip Report: Staying at The Frontier (RIP)

This is an old Las Vegas trip report that I am posting for the entertainment of Las Vegas addicts. While it was current at the time it was written, a lot of it is now completely outdated.  Much of what you read about may no longer exist.

Thursday, March 28, 2003 – Day Eight of Nine

As always, we are awake early.  To the Frontier breakfast buffet we go. Don’t ever eat this buffet, it’s absolutely disgusting. DISGUSTING. The bacon has hard strings in it. The eggs are raw and cold. There is very little selection. It’s just disgusting. Absolutely disgusting. The real slap in the face is that it costs $8.95 for CRAP.

Worst buffet ever.

Out to the casino.

The Frontier has an ancient slot machine hanging out in its casino.

Wednesday, March 27, 2003 – Day Seven of Nine

Today for breakfast, we go back to the Aladdin and finally get to use my slot tournament credit to eat at their buffet. It was great as always. I took a couple of pictures of Paris as we passed by.Paris, Las Vegas Paris fountain, Las Vegas Continue reading
