If You Subscribe To My Blog Via Email…

Hi!

If you are reading this, that means you signed up to get notified of new blog posts by email.  It also means I have failed at turning off email notifications.

LET ME EXPLAIN.

I am trying some new things over here.  First:  We all agreed that you guys would rather read one big trip report at once, than having it posted one day at a time.  So I have been doing this.

But this is causing a couple of issues:

  1.  It makes my blog completely impossible to search.  If someone searches for “Apache Hotel review” on Google, it pulls them to the first page of a 17 page trip report.  The Apache part is on like page 14.   I am losing some traffic here because it is not landing on the exact page they are looking for.
  2. I am going to redo my theme and I need a separate post for each day for the new theme.

So what I am going to start doing with the trip report I am working on now (it will be finished before I leave in 3 days for another trip), is make 16 separate posts, but post them all at once, linking to “next post” on each page.  This way, each day is searchable by Google.  And you still get to read them all in one sitting.

Now.  I don’t want you guys to have to get sixteen emails whenever I make a new post, one for each day.  I also will be breaking up some older trip reports that I posted in one post, so that those are also searchable.  I definitely do not want you to wake up one day and have 8293748374 emails from me.

So I tried turning off email notifications and this is a test post.  If you get a notification of this post, I failed.  And I am not going to try again because I have already wasted 384783 hours of my life trying to figure out how to do this.

So if you do not want 834282437 emails from me, you can unsubscribe.  If  you do want 8324873 emails from me, well bless your heart.

And of course, if I am doing this right (crossed fingers) then I was successful in turning off notifications and I am just typing to myself because you will never see this.

Here we go in 3…2…1…

Sigh, it failed.

    Hi Jenn,

I’m considering thinking about going next weekend, Saturday to Tuesday. Please let me/us know your flight and how crowded plane and Vegas is. If I do go, I’m leaning towards Delta, as they are the only airline company blocking middle seats and I’m not rich enough or do I want to splurge on first class. Thanks!

      Hey David!

I am flying JetBlue there and Delta home. I had a bunch of JetBlue credit from trips I had to cancel this year. Mint seats were only $458. They are normally over $1k. I expect the plane to be empty.

When I flew home in November (working on that trip report now) on JetBlue there was a woman in the middle seat. They moved her to an exit row once the doors were shut. So if I had not had flight credit to make the Mint seat so cheap, I would not be flying JetBlue on this trip.

If you do end up going, I hope you have the best time!

Are you flying out of Newark? I’m not a big fan of Newark airport if I had the option. Can’t wait to read your delayed trip report. How long are you planning to stay in Vegas for and are you staying mostly in the downtown area?

I am flying out of JFK. Newark had cheaper fares but getting there is an issue. I’d either have to take the subway to Penn Station (no) or pay a bit over $100 for an Uber (nooooooo)

I’ll be there 19 days, working for 3 of them. Most nights are Downtown, with 2 at Sam’s Town and 6 on the Strip. My last three nights are double booked with Flamingo and California. I’ll decide which one to cancel as I am into the trip. It could go either way. I love Downtown but without my usual shtick of taking the bus to all off Strip casinos, I don’t know that it is a good idea to be down there for such a long time. At least on the Strip, I can play tourist.

Jennifer, I got your email (sorry). I will be happy to receive 834282437 e-mails from you though. You’re like Netflix, just drop all 300 episodes at once and we can then binge-read them, awesome. I always enjoy your trip reports. Have a great trip and please, please, please stay safe and healthy!
