Because Why Not Keep Going to Las Vegas During A Pandemic?

This is my second trip to Las Vegas during a pandemic.  It is being brought to you by the indescribable feeling of freeeeeeeeee I felt during my last trip to Las Vegas.  Going to Vegas, hell traveling anywhere, during a pandemic is definitely not the smartest idea.  But my mental health was (and is again) suffering from being inside my apartment.

I booked this trip a million years ago, to be away from the world during the Presidential election.  Little did I know, I would end up in the epicenter of it and it would dominate the local news.  Oops?

I was able to book a Delta One seat for only $300.  This is a full lay down flat seat.   I have decided I don’t like these that much.   Same thing on JetBlue Mint last year, my legs hurt when I lay down.  It feels like I am on a sleeper train in China.  Still better than sitting, cramped, on a full flight I suppose.

We took off on time and arrived a bit early.  I took a Lyft to Luxor, my first hotel of the trip.  My room was not ready.  I hate when that happens. I normally arrive at night so I really hated when this happened.   I wanted to freshen up and put my money in the safe, nope.

I tried sitting outside just enjoying the fresh-not-triple-digit desert air, checking my phone compulsively for a notification that my room was ready.  Eventually, I gave up and I checked my luggage with the Bell Desk.

I had breakfast/lunch at Starbucks inside Luxor.  I sat at a table that had a ledge behind it and some woman chooses to stand right behind me, not behind any of the open areas, and talk on her cell phone without a mask on.  Happy pandemic everyone!

I went to the MLife booth to get my free play, collect my MyKonami free play and to get my status matched to Gold from being Diamond at Caesars.  As I am doing this, I get a notification that my room is ready.  Cool.  Why could it not have been ready before I entered the casino?  Now that I am inside the casino, I cannot leave the casino.

I head right over to the SuperTimes Pay video poker machine that was nice to me on my last trip.  I played nickels last time but since I have $90 free play and I run it through here on quarters.

Pro tip: when you cannot get a multiplier, get Kings on two different hands.

Eventually, I cashed out and made my way up to my room.

Luxor room 25015.  This is a Stay Well room, which is really just a gimmick.

The Stay Well air purifier, which I don’t believe actually does anything other than make noise.

I tried to get some room view photos, but the sun was blasting and made it impossible, so you will have to settle for a photo of the food court from the elevator bank.

I took a nap once I got to my room.   Despite having a laydown seat on the flight, I really didn’t sleep.  It feels weird sleeping on a plane, which is good since I won’t be purchasing those once prices go back up to normal, so let’s not get too used to it.

Once I am up, I get ready to go out and realize my safe is locked and I didn’t lock it.  UGH.  I can either:
1. Call the front desk and wait for someone to come fix it.  Who knows how long that will take?
2. Take all my money with me
3. Hide my money in my room

I opted for option 3, which proved to be a good decision since I went degenerate on my way out of Luxor and had I had my entire budget on me, it may have been worse.

I took an Uber to Orleans.   I am not so sure what happened between myself and this place.  I used to love it here, and she seemed to like me as well.  I used to start my trips here and found it difficult to leave the property because gamblor.   But once Boyd changed the rules and started giving you comps at only your home property, the love affair died.  I keep coming back because of the LVA $10 free play coupon, and try and rekindle our love, but it just doesn’t work.

Tonight was no different.

I ate dinner at the Copper Whisk Cafe.   Burger and fries.  Asked for ketchup for my fries, never got it.  I was asked if I wanted more iced tea, said yes, never got it.  I purposely cashed out of a Keno machine with $19 so I would have tip money for dinner.  But I only did the cash out of the machine part, I forgot to do the cash out the ticket and get cash part.  Yeargh.  So now I have to charge a tip on my credit card, which I don’t want to because I kind of don’t want to tip, but have to tip because these people are going to work during a pandemic, I would be a monster to not tip.

I took an Uber from here to New York, New York to use a MyKonami free play.   Lost it really quickly, like faster than it took to smoke a cigarette. I hate when that happens.

Walked from here to Excalibur to use a MyKonami free play and the player’s club was closed.  At 8:00 on a Saturday night.

Back to Luxor, stopping at Starbucks, where I lost more money because why not.  I was in my room at 9:00 pm on day one, with nothing exciting to close my day out with.

For those of you who take long trips, you know that anything can happen.  You can have days that are so unlike the first one.  But the thing is, on travel day, day one – when you are a complete loser, you go to bed in fear that this will be your entire trip.   I went to bed so disappointed that I had such a shitty gambling day.

Does it continue?  Let’s find out.
