Las Vegas Blog: Live Music is Killing Me

If you have landed here and would like to read this Las Vegas trip report from the beginning, you can go HERE.

Up at 5:00 AM at Fremont, after a horrible night’s sleep.  Live bands are back on Fremont, which I had not considered when booking this hotel to work from.  The music went until 1:00 AM, and I have to be up at 5:00 AM for work.  They will do that again every night this week.  My bed was vibrating.   I have stayed at Fremont a million times in my life but I have only worked from here during Covid.  The bands were not playing prior to this trip because of Covid restrictions so I was not expecting this.  I also honestly don’t remember this ever being an issue before Covid?  Am I just that much older that the music is that much louder? I am going to suffer.

I spent way too much time trying to get the lighting in my room to make me not look like a blurry ghost on a morning video call with all of Leadership at work.  I wasn’t too successful.  Oh well?

I did like being up in time to see the sunrise.  I cannot say enough times how much I love sunrise in Las Vegas.  That feeling of a fresh, new day.  The idea that anything can happen.   Those first early morning steps in a quiet casino.  The knowledge that if you  have a heart attack from winning a million dollars, the paramedics will be able to reach you easier while the casino is still empty. Eye on the prize mother fucker!

I went down to get Dunkin Donuts.  They are out of oat milk NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

I worked all damn day long, which = sitting on video calls.  By the time my last call happened, I could not even speak correctly as I was so exhausted.  My boss’s boss’s boss’s boss actually lives in Las Vegas.  Her internet was out so she was working from a Starbucks parking lot.  I wanted to consider telling her she could come to my hotel if she brought me 50 gallons of coffee.

I did reschedule one meeting to go get coffee.   I then also played $20 in Cleopatra Keno because degenerate and I lost it.  Oh well.

I was so fucking tired I could not even really figure out when my day ended.  My laptop is on east coast time, my phone is on west coast.  I could not figure out when to log off.  I could not figure out what time it was, despite both clocks stating the time.  I was exhausted, starving and needing coffee.  I also could not figure out what I wanted to do.  I need to go to Walgreens for water, I need to eat and I need to gamble.  In what order do I do these things?  Who knows.

I know I am not going to last long without falling asleep at a machine so rather than, I don’t know, maybe calling it a night and keeping my budget for another day, I decide to play Cleopatra Keno in dollars.  I went from $80 – $200, with a bunch of wins.  Never a photo worthy win.

I went over to Binions for a comped burger.  Then to the ABC store for so much water.  I love water.

Tried some dollar Double Double Bonus video poker and lost $200.

It is about 7:00 now and I think I should maybe try going to bed 4 hours ago so I can sleep before the band starts.  Oh well.  As exhausted as I fucking am, I cannot sleep though that band.  But I sure as all hell am going to try.  Good night.
