Las Vegas Trip Report: Leaving Plaza YAY

Day four of my losing Las Vegas trip report.  Yeargh.

I am up at 8:00 AM.  I shower and finish packing.  I am gung ho to move hotels.  I don’t want to be at The Plaza anymore, I definitely do not ever again want to be inside the casino.  I don’t have change for housekeeping so I leave a $20 because I do not want to go downstairs to break a bill.

I attempt to leave through the South exit as I had yesterday and today it is locked.  So I now need to walk alllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll the way through the casino unnecessarily.

I cash out my Golden Gate TITO on my walk.  And ahhhhhhhhh I am at Fremont.  My favorite hotel in all of Las Vegas, which I know is crazy but I love it so much here, I love it so much, I LOVE YOU FREMONT.

I got room 626.

Side note:  I had booked Fremont for my 50th birthday but they are doing renovations and have zero smoking rooms on my birthday! I called and was told they are renovating the smoking floors, not that they are going to be fully nonsmoking.  As much as I want to stay here on my birthday, I just won’t do it if I cannot smoke without a bra on.

I wonder if the renovations mean this is the last time I will take a photo of the hidden step I always smash my toes into on every stay here?

I drop my stuff off in my room and go to Binions to use my last Binions App reward for a late breakfast.  I can already feel how free and clean I am with no longer being at Plaza.  Holy shit I hated it there.

I ended up somehow hating Binions hash browns by the end of my last trip.  So I order a Grid Iron breakfast as it has pancakes instead of hash browns.  Except I don’t know how to read so I am wrong.
I stopped at Starbucks at Golden Nugget for a venti iced coffee.  It did not have enough ice in it and was kind of warm like my room at Plaza.  Argh.

I played at Fremont.   First up was Ultimate X Double Double Bonus video poker.  I turned a $100 bill into a $100 TITO.  It is always fun when you are near losing your buy in and then get right back up there.   I do not have a photo of it, but I hit my first quad of this trip on this machine.  Day four, first quad.  Wow.

I lost $100 on Buffalo.  Bad luck is back!  I played Buffalo Chief, lost $60.  I won $198 on Buffalo Gold, do not have a photo of this.

I played my favorite Double Double Bonus / Cleopatra Keno machine for a bit.  Did pretty well on the Keno side.  Cashed out even.

I then decided to nap.   When I woke up, I know I have to get away from here.   I am losing big time, I am on the verge of triple digit heat.   Let me go visit Henderson while I still can without burning alive.

I took the bus to Rainbow, but got lured into The Pass first.  I was here when it was Eldorado and it had reminded me of the old days of El Cortez.  It is all fixed up nice now.   I got some free play for being a new sign up.  I didn’t really win anything but I got to play a bit.

They have a free shuttle to Railroad Pass, which still remains on my itinerary every trip to visit.  This trip was not the one.

Rainbow casino!  I love this place.
I had a Las Vegas Advisor coupon for a free wheel spin with 200 points.  I spun the wheel and lo and behold – it landed on $50 cash!  YAY!  I WON $50!

I stopped for dinner in their coffee shop.  I had a burger here many years ago and I always wanted to go back because it was so good.  Well it was not as good as I remember.   They do have tater tots though so that was cool.

My waitress was quite possibly the nicest woman I have ever met on the planet.   She reminded me of my mother, in case you were looking for examples of apples falling far from the tree.  I tipped her over 50% of the bill.

I played some Double Double Bonus video poker and hit 3s.

I played around a bit and began losing again so I decided to leave.   This was fun.

I know I have taken the bus from here many times but I cannot find the north bound bus stop.  Google keeps telling me it is several feet away.  There is no bus stop sign there AND Google tells me to cross the street.  I do and Google tells me to go back.  I am basically circling around the intersection of Water and Basic for about 15 minutes until a bus starts to come.  I wave and thankfully the driver picked me up.   Guess what?  There is no longer a bus stop there because they redid Water Street to be a one lane street so the bus cannot stop there anymore.  OH HEY.  Cool.  Thank you for stopping.

We are headed North on the bus.   Some guy gets on and cannot pay for the bus.   There is an altercation that the bus driver wins by closing the door as the guy is outside and yelling.   Two stops later, it happens again with a new guy.  This time, the guy pays but then sits down in my direct line of sight, completely aggravated.  He takes out a large wad of cash and begins fanning himself with it.   Lots of hundred dollar bills.   Don’t know what the fuck his deal was.   I just acted like he was invisible.

I got off the bus, went to Walgreens to stock up on water.   Dropped that off in the room and did some late night playing.  I lost $100 in Ultimate X video poker and said fuck this and went to bed at 3:33 AM.  Make a wish!
