Las Vegas Trip Report: March 29, 2002: Last Day

Note:  This is an older Las Vegas trip report that was written back in 2002.  Most of this information is now outdated and a lot of what is mentioned no longer exists.

Friday, March 29, 2002 – Day Six of Six

My mother and I wake up at 7:00 and check out of the Barbary Coast.  We went to Paris for breakfast. This was my first time eating at their buffet and it definitely will not be my last. So good.

I lose some more money in Paris. I only have about $70 left on me.

We take a cab to the Hard Rock and I lose $5. I ask my mother “Do you want to look around” meaning “Do you want to look at the memorabilia”  She says “yes” and starts looking at the slots. We play The Price is Right and I win $50 – which I really needed.

From here, we took the free shuttle up to Caesars.  I put $3 in a Megabucks and win $150. I love you Megabucks. I now have enough money to get me through the day.

We went back to the Barbary Coast to collect our luggage and made our way to the Westward Ho. My mother had decided right before we left that she wanted a hotel room for a nap on Friday afternoon. The Barbary Coast was already sold out.  I could not find ANYTHING for a single Friday night on Easter weekend except for a room at the Paris for $180 and a room at the Westward Ho for $49. We opted for the Westward Ho.

We got a room right near the casino – which was good. The rooms themselves are nicer than their reputation would allow you to believe.  But the sheets and pillowcases feel like plastic and they would suction to my face when I layed down. Creepy.

We go into the casino and I need a soda. We get on line. I say to my mother “Get me a Diet Pepsi, I’ll be right back” In three minutes I was back with my $249 win on Megabucks. I love Megabucks. My mother got the Ho Dog. I asked her why she would get this, she replied “I was hungry and it looked good”  To each their own.

She won about $100 on nickel slots in the Westward Ho. I won about $150. We now love this place.

We went next door to Slots a Fun and I won $120 on Megabucks. Now I’m rich!

Off to Circus Circus – we both lose. We take a cab to the Hilton for dinner.

I lose $50 in Megabucks. I’m happy to just have the $50 to lose.

After eating, we went to the Frontier.  I lose  $5.  I play another $20 – lose that too. Next up is the Stardust.   I lose $100 here.  It’s time to call it quits.

We go back to the Westward Ho and play a little, I come out even.

Time to say goodbye to Las Vegas.  We get a cab to the airport.

Our flight leaves at 11:30. At 12:30 they make the first announcement that the flight is running late (no, really?) and they hope to leave by 12:45.  12:45 is only fifteen minutes away, and we haven’t started boarding yet.

We are out of there at 1:00 am. I pass out on the flight and wake up 15 minutes away from New York. I’ve never done that before so I am thrilled.

At the airport, my mother and I say good bye, and head our separate ways to our apartments.

I got home and wanted to take out my contacts.  I could not find the key for my luggage. I am so tired and so cranky that I end up cutting the luggage open. And I am so tired I don’t even care.

I eventually find the keys to my luggage, inside my luggage.  Hello!  Welcome to Full of Sheep!  Play max credits. I still have a lump on my head from smashing it into the stupid machine.

Hi Geri! Thanks so much for the comment. My report seem “new” to me when I read the older ones. I always forget things that happened. I totally forgot about Full of Sheep. Now it’s been stuck in my head for the past week.
