Las Vegas: Work and Gamble and Gamble and Work

Las Vegas trip report day 5.

I woke up at 5:30 at Treasure Island.  I thought there was a huge bug in my room but it turns out it was just the top of this lamp. Holy morning heart attack.

I went to get Starbucks before work.  Having a Starbucks inside the actual hotel was a huge selling point for me.   Well the line – nope.  Starbucks opens at 6:00, which is when I have to be “at” work.  I would have still been on the line when my first meeting started so CVS bottled coffee it is.  HUGE disappointment.  I do not have a lot of work meetings tomorrow or Wednesday so I am moving to Mirage after work today.  It sucks that I am paying for my third night at Treasure Island and won’t be staying. Yes I could cancel it.  No I won’t because I feel I should pay for my terrible opinion of thinking this hotel would be the most perfect hotel for working.

Also mobile hotspot also sucks in this room.

I worked all day, which means sitting in video meetings, without a break and without breakfast or lunch and also without actual coffee.  It hurt and I ended up logging off an hour early to get some Starbucks and some Ultimate X video poker before sucking it up and moving to Mirage.

My machine dealt me 3s again, but no dealt kicker.

Dancing Drums was kind of nice, but not as nice as last night.

I went to my room and packed to move to Mirage.  Realized I forgot to break a $100 bill to tip housekeeping so now I need to go back or suffer the karma.

I took the tram.  It is “only” 97 degrees outside, which actually feels great compared to this weekend.  Who knew?

I went to the room and placed a mobile order for The Pantry.  Starving.  Forgot to order a drink, but I have a bunch of water with me since I stocked up thinking I was staying at Treasure Island.  Mirage doesn’t have refrigerators, Treasure Island does.  I can’t trust myself to pick hotels anymore.

I went down to play a bit on Dancing Drums.

WAHOO.

Up to the room where I went to bed before the sun even set.  I have heartburn for some reason and woke up choking on bile.  Then I could not fall back asleep because cigarette.  I got dressed and went downstairs and gambled.  Could have came back upstairs even but why would I do that when I can lose all my money?

Sun is still up and I go back to bed and cannot sleep. I don’t know why I cannot sleep.  I have been completely exhausted, why can’t I sleep?  I toss and turn a bit before deciding I am starving.   So I order room service at 11:00 PM.  Almost couldn’t because the room phone would not work but then figured out it works on speaker.

By the time my food gets here and I go down for a post meal smoke, I am going to have such a little amount of sleep before work.  Sigh.

Maybe I don’t so much hate working from Las Vegas as I hate myself making working from Las Vegas so difficult?

Good night.
