Circa Hotel, Las Vegas: Opening Night

Circa is the first new construction hotel in Downtown, Las Vegas in 40 years.  All us Vegas addicts watched it grow higher and higher as it was being built.  Back in October, I and many others, visited the casino for the first time.  Well tonight, the hotel is open and I am here on day one.  Typing in the dark.  Because the sensor thing is not working.

I arrived here just before noon, walking over from the California Hotel.  I checked my bags and got incredibly excited.  I saw Derek Stevens outside welcoming people.

I had 3 hours to kill so I did that and came back.

First glitch was my check in.  I had booked through Orbitz so I could use some of my Orbitz cash.  Problem is the check in date.  See, Circa announced people booked for opening night could check in up to 48 hours early.  That would be me!   When it came time to check in, there was something going on behind the counter that took 45 minutes to fix.   No problem, that’s why you are letting people check in early, to work out the glitches.

Finally I am off to my room.  I cannot turn the lights on.  Or the air conditioning.  It is VERY hot in the room and also very dark.

I am sweating.

While I am waiting, I decided to call Starbucks as someone hacked my card and cleared out the balance.  I am on the phone with them right now so let’s see how this goes.

I  was on the phone with Starbucks forever.  Good news, they are refunding my card.  Bad news, it will take about three weeks.  Guess I’ll have to die.

After about an hour of sitting here in the dark, I went out into the hall and found a housekeeper who came into my room and said “Oh yeah, this is broken!” and told me to call the front desk and ask for a new room.  Okay if you say so…

Guess who answered the phone at the front desk?  Same guy who had to deal with my check in for 45 minutes.  I am so sorry Jack.  If anyone from Circa is reading this, please give him a bonus.  He has had a hard day today.

He tells me to come down and get new keys.  I do.  This is the elevator.

This is also what happens when a hotel opens, glitches and all fun stuff.  I feel like I can overstate that this is completely fine, I am not mad.  This is why they let people check in early, to sort out the glitches.  But since this is the internet, I predict at least one person will respond pointing out that I am a fucking idiot, what did I expect checking into a hotel on opening night?

Room photos!  The first one irks me because do you see the handle next to the picture?  Well apparently that is a Murphy bed!  I had no clue until after I checked out and didn’t get to see it!  My soul is completely crushed here.

The water pressure in the shower was fantastic.  It reminded me of the olden days where Fitzgeralds had the best water pressure in all of Vegas.

The makeup mirror is attached sideways.  It scraps along the counter when you pull it out.

And night view, same as the day view except I am a bit higher up and this time it is dark outside, not inside.  You can feel the base vibrations from the television overnight.   But there wasn’t any sound.
Time to go get my gamble on!

Not even close! The pillows are weird, they fill with air and when you put your head on one, it slowly deflates.

Thank You Jen for another fantastic trip report. I can’t wait to visit this place and hopefully stay there a couple of nights. This has to be a savior for all of Downtown as all the places will benefit from the overflow once this covid crap goes away. Haven’t been for over a year now on a trip so your reports make me feel like I am “almost” there but leave me jonesing even more for a trip. When I finally get there I will go ape shit even at my age!!

I cancelled my upcoming trip and decided to take another 2 week trip in November or December. I am dying to be there for a long period of time and just go completely nuts. I can’t imagine how badly you want to be there!
