Las Vegas: The Day Vacation Kicks In YAY!

Another day working in Las Vegas, another day up at 5:00 am in Las Vegas.  What makes this day special though, is that this is the day my vacation actually starts once I am done with work.

I learned that I cannot get breakfast until 6:00 when things open, so I sneak in some Buffalo while waiting.  The hope was to win a million dollars so that I can go back to bed rather than into a video meeting.  I won, but was missing quite a few zeros and work meeting it was.

You can tell I am super anxious to LET’S GO because I am playing max bet, which is out of my price range.  Or you can tell how degenerate I am because I was playing out of my price range.

Las Vegas Trip Report: The Day With Zero Photos

Las Vegas trip report day 7.   Not sure how I have been here for a week already when I just got here.

I was up at 4:30 at The D, where I stayed because smoking.  I am still checked into Circa and walk over there to shower with their incredible water pressure.  I thought I had left my toothpaste here, but did not.  It is also not in my room at The D.  So now I have to go to Walgreens.

When I checked out, Circa tried to charge me for the room.  I paid through Orbitz.   So that took a bit.  This is what happens when you stay at a hotel on opening night, which is completely fine.

I decided to play $100 on Buffalo because degenerate.  I got some bonuses, but never hit a cash out point.

Back towards The D, I opted to skip Dunkin Donuts to get McDonalds and they are not open.   Neither is the coffee cart by the elevator.  Now I am “at” work and starving, with back to back to back meetings for the next six hours.

Work was painful as I was exhausted, but got to break for iced coffee when a meeting ended early. Continue reading

Las Vegas Trip Report: Moving From Circa to The D(ick)

Good morning Las Vegas day 6!

I am up at 5:00 am at Circa so I can get breakfast and be at work at 6:00 AM.   Fun fact:  I am actually lying because I am really up at 5:00 AM so I can gamble a bit before starting work.

I really like gambling before work. It is a weird feeling, and also I love the fantasy of winning a million dollars and then not going to work.  You know, I am going to add “stick to huge progressive machines” to my before work gambling routine going forward.

Las Vegas: Buffalo Slot Machines and More!

It is day five in Las Vegas and I am awake at 7:30 AM at Circa.

My morning view.  I love the morning view in Las Vegas.  You look outside and know ANYTHING can happen today.  I also find myself fantasizing about running away from life, maybe getting a drivers license and driving into those mountains in the background just to see where they lead.

I shower and get dressed and am ready to hit the town at 9:30.  I really should do more hitting the town in Las Vegas, rather than just going back and forth between the same casinos all the time.  But I won’t.

When I get to the casino, I stay away from my usual money stealing machines and try some Dragon Link Spring Festival.  I doubled four $20 bills and lost the 5th.

Next I try Peacock Princess.  I lose a $20 and then double a $20.

Buffalo Deluxe!  I lose $80 and then lose $100.  Why do I do this?  Like seriously, why.   When I type up these trip reports, I just get so mad at myself.   I am fiiiiiiine with losing, fine with repeatedly losing on Buffalo.  But why do I keep putting more money in when I am losing?   Because of those sporadic big wins?   Oh yeah, that is why.  Because of those sporadic big wins.  Sigh.

Breakfast is me grabbing McDonalds at Plaza.

Then, since I cannot smoke in my room, I smoke a cigarette at a Buffalo slot machine before taking a nap.  Buffalo does not hate me during this session. Continue reading

Las Vegas: Free Play + Circa Stay

Good morning Las Vegas!  Today is day 4.  I am waking up at California Hotel at 7:30 AM.

I am out at 8:50 and make a bee line for Binions, to have breakfast at their coffee shop.  Still using the app for dining credit.

I stop and play some Buffalo before eating.  I lost a $20, turned a second $20 into $120 and lost a third $20.  I have no photos except this one of Circa!  Where I am checking into today YAY.
I take an Uber to go buy cigarettes and then return to California to do some quick playing before checking out.  I also stopped to pay my hotel bill, a whopping $4.61, in cash.

I played Buffalo Diamond and finally beat this shitty game.

Despite this busy morning, I am back in my room at 10:20 AM.  I pack my crap and move on.

Hotel Review: Sam’s Town, Las Vegas

I stayed at Sam’s Town in Henderson over New Year’s Eve, 2020.  I had also stayed there a few year ago.  I enjoyed it both times.  It really has everything I need, most importantly, a Dunkin Donuts!  I don’t know if the Dunkin is open 24 hours in normal times.  It wasn’t during this stay, but this stay was during Covid where all bets were off.  Except the bets I made while gambling.  Degenerately.  Because degenerate.

I do wish Sam’s Town had a coffee shop other than TGIFriday’s though.

Sam’s Town is owned by Boyd.  I was able to book four comped nights over New Year’s Eve, which mostly came from my Downtown play.  I usually only hit and run here, once a year at most.  Sometimes I will even skip a year.

I took an Uber here from The D and it cost me $20.86.  My driver had never heard of Sam’s Town, which I thought was very odd. Continue reading

Las Vegas: Merry Freaking Christmas

Las Vegas Christmas trip starts at 6:30 when I wake up at 6:30 for no reason at all. I can barely make it to work ten feet from my bed by 9:00.  Vegas?  Can’t even sleep  until 9:00 am.

I am out at 8:15.  Breakfast again is at Market Street Cafe, paid with comps.

I go back to my room to grab the Dunkin Donuts coffee I smartly brought back last night and left in my refrigerator, to stop me from having to walk to go get iced coffee.  OF FUCKING COURSE the refrigerator setting is too cold so it is kind of like a coffee smoothie.  I tried using the hair dryer to melt it.  It kind of not really worked.  Damn me and my fucking ideas.

Over to Binions I go for some Wonder Four Buffalo.

$100 – $167, cashed out at $160

$100- $238, cashed out $200

YAY Las Vegas – 18 Day Trip Report

Ah yes, I am beyond overdue in bringing you yet another 18 day trip report from Las Vegas at Christmas.

What is kind of amusing is that I am well aware that these do better when posted somewhat timely.  And you know what?  I could actually lie and tell you this trip was recent.  All I would have to do is leave out all mentions of Christmas, and avoid Bellagio conservatory photos (which I absolutely hate taking and editing) and you would never know.

But I can’t actually do that.  Because then how could I show you the Dunkin Donuts Christmas tree?!

Hotels for this trip:

California
Circa (on opening night!)
The D(ick)
Sam’s Town
Flamingo
Bellagio
Cosmopolitan
California x 2

I take an Uber to the airport.   I am still not used to doing this, since pre-Covid, I would take public transport.  I leave my apartment 4 hours before my flight.  I don’t have any idea what traffic is going to be like.  Yes, it is the night before a holiday weekend.  But it is also a pandemic.

Well I didn’t leave early enough, that’s for damn sure.  We sat in standstill traffic forever and I got to the airport 1 hour and 15 minutes before my flight, making the car ride 2 hours and 45 minutes.  For reference, I live 19 miles from JFK.

I keep saying next time maybe I’ll book a room at the TWA hotel before my flight.  Maybe next time I actually will?

Circa Hotel, Las Vegas: Opening Night

Circa is the first new construction hotel in Downtown, Las Vegas in 40 years.  All us Vegas addicts watched it grow higher and higher as it was being built.  Back in October, I and many others, visited the casino for the first time.  Well tonight, the hotel is open and I am here on day one.  Typing in the dark.  Because the sensor thing is not working.

I arrived here just before noon, walking over from the California Hotel.  I checked my bags and got incredibly excited.  I saw Derek Stevens outside welcoming people.

I had 3 hours to kill so I did that and came back.

First glitch was my check in.  I had booked through Orbitz so I could use some of my Orbitz cash.  Problem is the check in date.  See, Circa announced people booked for opening night could check in up to 48 hours early.  That would be me!   When it came time to check in, there was something going on behind the counter that took 45 minutes to fix.   No problem, that’s why you are letting people check in early, to work out the glitches.

Finally I am off to my room.  I cannot turn the lights on.  Or the air conditioning.  It is VERY hot in the room and also very dark.

I am sweating.
