Friday, December 23, 2005 – Day Eleven

Today is the day I plan to go all over Vegas and do all the things I missed doing earlier in my trip. I warn my sister that it’s probably going to be very boring for her for most of it. But if she wants to go, she is more than welcome to. She drags me to the wax museum every year and wants to do that again, so she wants to come with me.

First stop – I check out of Plaza and into Fremont. She checks out of El Cortez and into the Fremont.

My Fremont room:

My sister is running late to come back downstairs so I go back to Plaza and play some nickel video poker. I hit two four-of-a-kinds and I’m up $55.

My sister shows and we go for lunch at Magnolias with our coupon. From there we cab to Palace Station where I want to put some play on my card so I don’t lose my points. I play a bit of Lil’ Lucy and win and then lose. Then I play a Max Action slot machine and lose. Then it’s off to a Carnival of Mystery slot machine where I recover $35, but I’m still down.

We take the Palace Station shuttle over to the Fashion Show Mall so I can play a bit at the Frontier and Stardust to keep my points active. I lose at both casinos.

We then get on the bus and hit the Wax Museum. We use a 2-for-1 coupon and save $22.95. Or rather my sister does because she pays the whole thing because she knows it’s the only way I’ll go. I find that place to be so boring.

Once we’re done with that, it’s to the Eiffel Tower. This has been on my to-do-list since my very first trip and FINALLY we are here! I have a $2 off coupon before 5:00 and we get there with about 90 seconds to spare. We go up and the sun is setting. It is beautiful. We watch one fountain show and then head back down.

How infuriating are these photos?   WHY did I not center anything?

My sister wants to check her comp balance (her very first comp ever!) so I play and win $25 while she does this.

We cab over to Hard Rock. I have the Las Vegas Advisor free slot play coupon and an American Casino Guide coupon for a Hard Rock Six Pack. This in turn gives me a coupon for a free desert at Mr. Luckys. we go and eat and then it is time to use the slot play.

I pick a quarter video poker machine.

I put in the $10 free play, I get up to $15, cash out.

I put in a $5, get up to $15, cash out.

I put in another $5 and hit four Aces. $200. Cash out.

Now I put in a $20. I get four 4’s, cash out.

Put in another $20. Get four Kings! Cash out.

Put in one final $20 and lose it all.

My grand total win is $380.

I am stoked!

We miss the last Hard Rock shuttle back to the Strip by about three minutes so we take a cab to the Barbary Coast. Play a bit and then shuttle to South Coast, which has opened the day before.

We go inside and my sister says “Let’s walk around and look at the games before playing”. She isn’t even finished with the sentence before I have my money in a new IGT slot machine called Shocking Headlines. I win $50.

After we are both playing awhile, THEN my sister decides to go get a card because she left hers at the Barbary Coast. She does this all the time and it drives me insane. Why not get a card BEFORE you play?? So she goes off to find the Player’s Club booth and I move to video poker.

First $20 in. I get four-4’s with a kicker. $200.

I then get four more four-of-a-kinds.

I cash out at $450.

I call my sister to ask where she is because I know if I sit here waiting any longer, I am going to put my money back in and possibly lose it all. She is on her way back to me. When she shows, I ask her “guess how much this ticket is worth?” and she guesses $450. Damn. Too bad she isn’t that good at gambling for real!

We shuttle back to the Barbary Coast. I want to go to Terribles and keep my points intact but the wait for the bus is driving me insane. So we hit Ballys. I play Aztec Temple. I have no idea why since it always sucks up my money. But no, not this time. I get a bonus for $115. this really is my lucky night. Best night I’ve ever had in Vegas!

We go to Paris and I play and lose and win and lose and win and lose. I feel like we were there forever.

Then to Flamingo where I lose and lose and lose. Same with O’Sheas.

Last stop is Imperial Palace. For some reason, I certainly have no idea why, it’s here that I decide to put $100 in a Megabucks slot machine and play until I either hit zero or win the $11,999 000. After a while of winning, I go back down and down and ended up at zero. Damn. At the very least, I should have done this in a hotel that I WANT room offers from.

We take the bus back downtown and I’m in bed at 4:00 am.
