Las Vegas Travel Blog: Yes, I Packed 9 Hotels Into an 11 Night Stay

Sunday, December 18, 2005 – Day Six

I get up at 9:00 at The Hotel and immediately decide to go right back to bed. So I do. Back up and dressed at 11:00. I check out and move to the Monte Carlo. I got room 18307 – nothing interesting really.

And the view, featuring Boardwalk Hotel!
I take the tram to Bellagio and walk over to Barbary Coast where my sister is waiting for me. Today it is actually raining outside. We take the shuttle to the Orleans for brunch. As we sit down, she hands me a bag full of about ten different types of pain killers she got for me at the gift shop because my back hurt. How nice.

We play for a while in the Orleans. We fall in love with Mr. Cashman. Play and win and play and lose.

Shuttle back to Barbary Coast and I head back to the Monte Carlo by way of the Bellagio. I manage to lose almost all the rest of my day’s budget on the way. I arrive back at my room with a whopping $20 for the night. It is about time my luck ran out!

I take a nap and my sister meets me later on. We are eating at the Monte Carlo Brewpub. I get the filet mignon, she gets the pizza. Both are good.

We head to the Boardwalk casino to say goodbye to it. They have Road to Riches slot machines which is a game I had played and LOVED in Atlantic City. I win $20 on my first try. I want to keep playing here, both on this game and a new Price is Right slot machine I never saw anywhere else. However every cash out here is a hand pay. This doesn’t go well with my system of playing $5 at a time and cashing out when I double it. So we leave.

We hit Aladdin next. I am out of money so I have to take $100 out of my “emergency” stash. we play Laverne and Shirley slots and I accidentally hit max bet – 300 pennies. Well hey – I get the bonus and win $300. Yay! My biggest slot win ever was $300 and I’ve now gotten it a second time, both times were at Aladdin.

We move to Ballys and Barbary Coast and play around for a bit. I take a cab back to the Monte Carlo and am in bed by 2:30.

OMG! Those pictures of the Strat —- so retro. Thanks for posting your old TR(s). Like 95% of why I do my own TRs is to come back later and marvel at what I USED to do. Love seeing someone else do that too.

My trip reports are a diary for me. I did these things, I want to remember them. I also LOVE the outdated room photos. That Luxor bedspread was my favorite photo of this report.

Your blast from the past was just great and a lot of fun to read. Between 2000 and maybe 2012, I stayed almost always at the Stratosphere, so it was kind of nostalgic to see those old room photos. I’ve seen photos of the Fremont rooms before, but yours really showed how small the room is. You said you were a low roller back then, but you also had some good money management going on (for the most part). BTW; having porterhouse steak two nights in a row is not excessive; it makes you my hero. Thanks for digging up this report. As always, all the best to you on the next excursion.

Thanks Mike! I have been working on some other older reports I never put on this blog. Some are so old that the photos are stored separately on floppy disks. That should be fun.

I am currently in Vegas right now, so hopefully I will win a million dollars and be free to work on those older reports.

I had forgotten that you were due to return to Vegas right around now. Good luck and have fun………. and maybe another steak.

” I am out of money so I have to take $100 out of my “emergency” stash.”

That’s like saying “I’m out of beer… except for these two beers I have over here”.

    Rationalizations…
