Wednesday, December 21, 2005 – Day Nine
I wake up this morning at Circus Circus hotel at 8:00. I have a whopping $70 for the day. Yay!
I have a massage at the Palms today so I cab over there. Because of a traffic accident, we have to go really far out of the way and it costs me $20. I have my bags with me as I am moving hotels again today! I check my bags with the bellman there and hit the slots. I end up winning $40, and I’m happy.
I get my first Southwestern Stone massage and boy did that feel good! I’ll be getting one again asap!
When I’m done, I go back upstairs to the spa where my sister is waiting for her facial. Our plans were to meet here and cab to Downtown together. While she is getting her facial, I shower and get dressed. I’m done a bit earlier than her so I take some time to make a list of all the things I have skipped over on my itinerary so I can go back and do them. There’s a lot!
Once I’m done, I put $5 into a penny 100 play video poker machine. I get royals twice! Both were for $2.50. I’m in the money now!
When my sister is done, we cab to the Plaza, where I am staying. I get room 2010 in the North Tower with a view of Fremont street (as requested). I like my room, but my sister hates it. she says it has a 70’s decor with all the mirrors all over the walls. I still like it though because there is a lot of space and a refrigerator.
Look at the cool view of things that no longer exist!
We walk over to Main Street Station and have their lunch buffet. Again I’m reminded that I don’t really like lunch buffets. But they do have cheesecake so I’m good to go.
After lunch we play at Main Street Station and it is here I discover Lil’ Lucy. I love her. She gives me $55, which I desperately need.
We head back to the Plaza to get my sisters luggage and get in a cab to the El Cortez where she is staying on my comp. The cab driver was very nice, despite the short trip. She tipped him $10.
I am given room 701 which has a Strip view. I have no photos of this.
I go downstairs and play forever and ever but do end up losing. When we break for dinner, I have $45 left of today’s budget.
Dinner is at Roberta’s. We both had the Porterhouse. it was wonderful, as was our server. This meal was my favorite out of all the meals I had this entire trip. Grand total after the Las Vegas Advisor coupon was $24.19. We each leave $20 and I now have $25 left of today’s budget.
We go back out to the casino and there is Lil’ Lucy. Hi Lil’ Lucy! I give her $5 and I win $25. I cash out and give her another $5 and hey now! I get the Lil’ Lucy bonus. I get ten free spins x 5. On one of the free spins, I get a line that hits 6000 pennies. $60! But it keeps going and going and I’m confused. Then I realize I have THREE lines that hit 6000 pennies. $180! The final bonus total was $185. I’m rich! I am ecstatic! This is so unexpected.
I take my newfound riches and play some video poker. I lose, but it’s okay – I’M RICH!
We finally leave the El Cortez and walk to Fitzgeralds. Lil’ Lucy is waiting for me and she gives me $80.
Next stop is Four Queens and I see a new IGH slot machine called “Trailer Park (something)” and ugh this game is the devil. I should have known when it was next to Party Fantastico that I was in for trouble. iI took $50 and gave me nothing. I hit for 10 pennies once, that was IT. screw you Trailer Park Whateverthehellyournameis.
Next stop is across the street to Fremont. According to my notes I played a Hot Hot Penny slot machine and won, but I didn’t write how much.
Moving right along to Binions where I try the new Jackpot Party slot machine I’ve heard about. I used to hate this game because every time I’d get the bonus, I’d get the Party Pooper immediately. Then I’d see all the boxes revealed and see the DOZENS of Non-Pooper choices and get so angry that I ALWAYS PICK THE FREAKING POOPER IMMEDIATELY. However, I have heard that this new Jackpot Party has a party saver for people like me, so I try it.
I play and play and play and play and play and no bonus. Finally I get a “surprise party” bonus! and guess what I get the first pick? That’s right, the freaking Pooper! I hate you! But wait, you are then given an option to pick between three items. Guess what I pick? The Party Saver! Yay! I also got the Dance Bonus which is a bonus-within-the-bonus. I’m happy. I will play this game again.
It is getting late and my sister needs to get back to the El Cortez because they are doing elevator repairs and the elevators will be shut down at 1:59 am. We go our separate ways. Once back at my room and in my pajamas, I fall asleep at 2:30 while watching the Binions sign outside my window flash the current temperature of 53 degrees.

awesome old trip report… oh those gaudy bedspreads in most of the rooms – loved them! thanks for reliving 2005…
I loved the Luxor bedspread with the Egyptian theme.
OMG! Those pictures of the Strat —- so retro. Thanks for posting your old TR(s). Like 95% of why I do my own TRs is to come back later and marvel at what I USED to do. Love seeing someone else do that too.
My trip reports are a diary for me. I did these things, I want to remember them. I also LOVE the outdated room photos. That Luxor bedspread was my favorite photo of this report.
Your blast from the past was just great and a lot of fun to read. Between 2000 and maybe 2012, I stayed almost always at the Stratosphere, so it was kind of nostalgic to see those old room photos. I’ve seen photos of the Fremont rooms before, but yours really showed how small the room is. You said you were a low roller back then, but you also had some good money management going on (for the most part). BTW; having porterhouse steak two nights in a row is not excessive; it makes you my hero. Thanks for digging up this report. As always, all the best to you on the next excursion.
Thanks Mike! I have been working on some other older reports I never put on this blog. Some are so old that the photos are stored separately on floppy disks. That should be fun.
I am currently in Vegas right now, so hopefully I will win a million dollars and be free to work on those older reports.
I had forgotten that you were due to return to Vegas right around now. Good luck and have fun………. and maybe another steak.
Thanks Mike!
” I am out of money so I have to take $100 out of my “emergency” stash.”
That’s like saying “I’m out of beer… except for these two beers I have over here”.
Rationalizations…
